Manufacturing Capabilities

RAW MATERIALS. Only the world's best quality aluminum oxide and silicon carbide are used. Grain, bond and temporary binder materials are subject to strict quality control measures.

MIXING. Different methods are employed to thoroughly mix the components and achieve the correct granulation. Fine grit materials are mixed with a proprietary method in a separate department to avoid contamination from coarser grains.

PRESSING. Some products are pressed to the finished part geometry. In other cases a larger intermediate block is pressed. Dimensions, density, surface characteristics and edge quality are important quality characteristics.

KILN FIRING. Different kiln cycles have been engineered for our various formulations and abrasive materials. Measurements are made on all product batches after they have been kiln fired.

FABRICATION. Polishing stones are cut from large blocks. Secondary treatments include the addition of oils, waxes, resins and sulfur. Product marking and packaging complete the manufacturing process.

COMPOSITE FABRICATION. Traditional abrasives are combined with high-strength, high-tech composite materials to create new products such as RIBSTONE™.

PRODUCT ENGINEERING. Because we manufacture from basic raw material we can tailor an abrasive formulation to very specific end uses. Reverse engineering can be used to match an existing abrasive product.
